DavidLopez David Lopez is a native of Santa Ana, California and the youngest of four siblings. His parents, whom he considers his greatest motivation, are immigrants from Jalisco, México. He received his BA in Screenwriting from Chapman University in 2007 and spent a year exploring writing through other genres. In 2010, David received his MFA in Creative Writing and Writing for the Performing Arts from the University of California, Riverside where even though his emphases were Nonfiction and Screenwriting, he worked with fiction, poetry, playwriting, as well critical essays. His writing elevates such topics as culture, language barriers, sexuality and identity, and his studies in film have inspired critical essays on film aesthetics and theme. David is currently in pursuit of an MLIS degree from San Jose State University. In June 2010, his essay, "The Dreamers: A Modern Day Noir" was published in Connotation Press and his work is forthcoming in Joto: An Anthology of Queer Ch/Xicano Poetry. When not writing, David is a writing advisor to published teen writers, Barrio Writers.
